SOLIARES
2026
This series presents a collection of solitary trees, each a distinct memory and a marker in the artist's personal journey. Each artwork forms a slender, vertical panel reminiscent of a core sample or a steadfast monument.
The trees are not merely landscapes, but portraits of a relationship: to a person, a place, a past self, or a pivotal moment. Each tree's form and texture shifts to echo the emotional and temporal landscape of its "waypoint".
This personal cartography is framed by a chilling global arithmetic: a single mature tree can absorb over 22 kilograms of carbon dioxide a year, with global forests currently sequestering about 2.6 billion tonnes annually—a crucial brake on climate catastrophe. Yet, we clear an estimated 15 billion trees each year, a devastating loss when each one is a vital organ for our planet’s survival.
