HOLDING GROUND
2026
These two works honour century-old trees in south-west Western Australia: one in a cleared dairy paddock at Cowaramup, the other on the old Dunsborough foreshore. Both have withstood nature and human change—clearing, development, storm and season, and both have prevailed. Each is assembled from chequerboarded plywood tiles, part drawn and part painted, so the image forms in fragments. Hung bending toward one another, the trees lean into a quiet conversation about resilience: lonely markers stubbornly holding their place in the landscape, continuing to grow, while the world around them is remade.
